Poor little loaf. It's stood the test of time, that's for sure.
Now that I'm looking at the article again, I'm finding even funnier things. Like they quoted the price as being $1.59. Who remembers the price of bread they bought last year? I've actually never heard of Golden Break bread...
Oh well, at least a bread story varies from the usual PEI news which my grampie Glover described as always being just about "fish and potatoes".
In answer to Marie Parry though I can say exactly what she's got in there. It's the holy grail of preservatives of course! I was pretty sure that eating that stuff would have made me live forever...
I too have toyed with the idea that eating perservatives should, effectively, perserve me. I'm not dead yet, so the theory hasn't been disproved.
I had given up buying bread because it always goes mouldy on me quickly. The last loaf I bought lasted about 3 days, even when wrapped tightly. I'm clearly buying the wrong bread. Or maybe I'm mouldy and it's spreading to the bread ;)
If you're wondering what I'm up to or what I'm thinking while I'm Away, here's the place to find out. I can write a lot, about absolutely nothing, so be warned. If you'd like to e-mail me (I would like) then my address is megan-dot-glover-at-gmail-dot-com. I'm sure you can figure that out. Otherwise, feel free to leave comments as well. I appreciate them. Thanks for visiting!
A country girl from Prince Edward Island, Canada (henceforth referred to as "PEI" or "the Island"), I finished my schooling (or so I thought) in various parts of Canada and went to live in Scotland for a while. Returned to Canada to study some more, and now am living in St. John's, Newfoundland.
